We welcome September with a sunshine-y plant that is a total panacea.
When I lived and taught elementary school in Costa Rica, the kids were sent to the kitchen for a cup of manzanilla {chamomile} tea for an upset stomach, wild emotions, nervousness, sadness, headaches, and any other issue you could think of. 100% of the time, they would come back feeling better, refreshed and happier. Every time!
This little plant made a big impact on me that year.
Chamomile is tasty, easy, kid-friendly, and packs a powerful gut-soothing, nerve-calming herbal punch.
This week in the apprenticeships, we made 4 herbal preparations, chamomile infused coconut oil, chamomile "biscuits", chamomile tea and chamomile glycerite, for a full chamomile immersion experience.
Today, I'm sharing with you method infuse herbs into oil for cooking, in drinks and on your skin...
... and one recipe with this infused oil {or you can just add the chamomile flowers straight to the dough} for a barely sweet, but very floral treat.
Use this double boiler method with other herbs to make infused oils {get the method PDF below}:
- holy basil
- rose
- plantain
- comfrey
- calendula
- lemongrass
- lemon balm
